Guy Leech

I’m a web fanatic hailing from Canberra, Australia. If I wasn’t paid to work the web, I’d be doing it anyway (I’d just be a lot poorer).

When working on website visuals, I try to create designs that have something different or unexpected about them (take the navigation on this site, for instance). I believe that the web is, despite its young age, getting old and tired; the same old sites after the same old sites. What I’m out to do is explore ideas and techniques to transform the seemingly mundane into something far more exciting.

Separate from the visual design, I’m very interested in minimising the stresses of using a website—I believe a website should give you what you want, without being told every time. I also work to reduce the amount of interaction on the web, as every second spent clicking is a second wasted.

Personally, I enjoy cooking, writing, amateur composing, and reading. I’m also a break-dancer; enjoy esoteric discussions, and have a totally warped sense of humour.

This site

The design is crafted as an experiment in the contrast of modern and historic design. The minimalist style was chosen to emphasise the navigational corners; the content is an exploration in contrasting typography.

Technically, this site was conceived on paper, fleshed out in Photoshop, built in Dreamweaver, run off Wordpress, and hosted by MediaTemple.
